MOST women admit telling the odd white lie to their other halves to hide the true cost of their shopping trips.
But, it seems, the credit crunch is encouraging the habit.

Forty per cent said they had bought clothes or beauty products which they had kept secret from their other halves.
And 80 per cent of new clothes, shoes and Replica Field & Stream Watches handbags bought were kept secret.

Researchers commissioned by Marie Claire magazine questioned 1,500 women aged from 20 to 40.
Trish Halpin, editor-in-chief of the magazine, said: 'While once it was the occasional pair of new heels, now women feel compelled to regularly hide new purchases.'
